On Saturday, April 24th, Winona County ASAP hosted a National RX Take Back Day, a day for cleaning out medicine cabinets and bringing any unneeded medications to a safe and secure collection site for proper disposal. The proper disposal of medicines is simple, yet an important step in preventing possible substance abuse in the community. Nearly 50 community members stopped by the Winona Family YMCA to dispose of their medications and by the end of the event we collected 86 lbs. of prescription drugs.
We would like to give a special thank you to Sarah Dixen at the Winona Senior High School and the 10 student volunteers who dedicated their time on a Saturday to make the event run as smoothly as possible. We also thank the Winona Family YMCA for hosting the wonderful location, and Winona Police Department Community Outreach Officers (CCO’s) Derek and TJ for serving at the event. We could not have done it without all of their help!
