If you want to learn more about a particular substance and are looking for reliable information, here is a list of reputable organizations.
- The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) offers comprehensive information on over 25 different substances, as well as an overview of Addiction. They have an easy-to-read version so you can hit “Play” and follow along, or a comprehensive version with a lot of reading.
- The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism provides over 25 brochures and fact sheets on alcohol use in various populations and seasons.
- The Partnership for Drug-Free Kids has great information on a lot of substances commonly abused, as well as countless easy-to-read articles for parents. They also have a nice chart: Drug Guide for Parents
- Know The Dangers.com is developed by the Minnesota Department of Human Services, and explains synthetic drugs.
